The Department of Posts, India Post, under the Government of India, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment to the post of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) across various Postal Circles in India. The recruitment includes appointments to the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak. Interested and eligible candidates must submit their applications online within the prescribed dates mentioned below.

Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (10th Class) from a recognized Board with Mathematics and English as compulsory or elective subjects. Applicants must have studied the local language of the concerned Postal Circle up to 10th standard. Basic computer knowledge, knowledge of cycling, and adequate means of livelihood are mandatory. Candidates awaiting results are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit:
The minimum age limit is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 40 years as on the prescribed cut-off date.
Age relaxation is applicable as per Government norms:
OBC: 03 years
SC / ST: 05 years
PwD: 10 years
Salary / Pay Scale:
Selected candidates will be paid Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) as per rules.
Branch Postmaster (BPM): ₹12,000 to ₹29,380 per month
ABPM / Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470 per month
Additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA) are applicable.
Selection Process:
The selection will be made purely on the basis of an automated merit list prepared from 10th standard marks (calculated up to 4 decimal places). There will be no written examination or interview. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. In case of a tie, preference will be given to older candidates followed by category-wise rules.
Application Fee:
Candidates belonging to UR / OBC / EWS (Male / Trans-man) are required to pay an application fee of ₹100/-. Female, SC, ST, PwD, and Transwomen candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee. The fee must be paid online.
Important Dates:
The One Time Registration process will be open from 31 January 2026 to 14 February 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).
The online application submission will start from 02 February 2026 and the last date to apply online is 16 February 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).
The correction window will be available from 18 February 2026 to 19 February 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).

Eligible candidates must apply online through the India Post GDS Online Engagement Portal by completing registration, filling the application form, uploading required details, paying the applicable fee, and submitting the form before the last date.
